Why hello hello, I’m Krista and a sincere welcome to you!
My yoga journey began as cross training as a professional dancer. I came to yoga hyper-mobile and yoga gave me strength to support my bendy nature. I enjoyed the flowing classes but only absorbed the physical aspects. Little did I know yoga would become a part of my heart and what I dedicated my life towards.
My friend Emma and I planned a trip to Australia, Bali and New Zealand at the start of 2012. Emma found Byron Yoga Centre Yoga Retreat Byron Bay | Byron Bay Yoga | Byron Yoga Centre NSW Australia to complete a Yoga Alliance recognized 200-hour teacher training (RYT-200). I thought great I’ll join in*. In our teacher training we dove into learning about asana (yoga postures), pranayama (breathwork), mediation and yogic philosophy! I was changed. I welcomed in more awareness to my thoughts, feelings, and body. I developed an awareness of how they influenced or sometimes even ruled me.
This journey was steady and gradual as I grew the connection with myself which continues to this day! A spark was ignited to live more consciously in my body, mind and heart.
After training I searched for a home base to continue to learn as a student and develop as a teacher. I am so grateful to have been welcomed into the caring arms of Yoga Centre Winnipeg I have developed and deepened my practice through the guidance from the talented teachers of Yoga Centre Winnipeg. My deepest gratitude goes to my mentors Jan and Shauna. Their powerful and informative teachings fuel how I teach and my own personal practice.
I share yoga with babies to seniors! I share yoga everywhere from yoga studios, schools, community and senior centers, workplace gyms and boardrooms, fitness facilities, outside in parks as well as online. My diverse experiences prove yoga is accessible for all and can be enjoyed everywhere!
I am enthralled with the balance that is developed through yoga. How we build strength and stamina while increasing agility. We acquire skills of when to stay with a challenge and when best to let go. We learn of imbalances in the body between the left, right, upper and lower then can welcome a return of balance to the physical body. We balance honouring our power and peace.
